Salomon Michael "Hammer" Martinez

Salomon Michael “Hammer” Martinez, 71, a very loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many has been welcomed home by his father Jose Salomon Martinez on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023 after 30 yrs of fighting diabetes.

He was born Jan. 21, 1952, in Alamosa, CO, and was raised in Lasauses, CO with his 8 siblings, Danny (Gloria) Martinez, Joe (Shelley) Martinez, Marcela (Tex) Lierly,  Steve Martinez, Ermilia Martinez (10 days old), Margaret Garcia, Monica Gurule, and Richard (Valerie) Martinez.

He met the love of his life Kimberlie (Merrill) Martinez and later they decided to elope to Las Vegas, Nevada to be married on May 8, 1976.  Together they raised 4 daughters, Lesha (Fasho) Trujillo, Krystal Martinez, Jill (Mark) Himes, and DaLea (Matt) Pennington.  They have 16 grandchildren.  They had a blast celebrating 46 years of marriage together. He is survived by his mother, Emily Martinez. 

He was an amazing athlete in track and football.  He was a hard worker with many jobs, a rancher, sold jewelry, body mechanic, delivered Pepsi, delivered potatoes, trained racehorses, and retired from El Paso Natural Gas after 37 yrs.

Hammer will be remembered for his love of his family, his adventure, his positivity with his trials, and a friend to all.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., Viewing will be at 9:00 a.m. at the Bloomfield Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

Salomon's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute Street, Farmington, New Mexico.
