Norman George Grange, 74, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on November 29, 2021.  He was born to Norman George Grange and Marie Davis on August 16, 1947 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Claudia Abbott Grange and sweet daughter Catherine Elizabeth Grange Peel, his son in law, Mike Peel and grandsons Bryson Michael Peel and Aaron Grange Peel.  His sisters Eloise Harmon and Ann Grange of Maine and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, Norman George Grange and Marie Davis, preceded Norman in death along with his brothers Greg, Peter and Mark.

Norman was a Mormon missionary for two years and served on the Navajo Reservation.  That is where his love for the Navajos first started.  After he returned home to Providence, Rhode Island he decided to join the Air Force and became a Dental Assistant/Medic and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.  That is where he met Claudia.  It was a whirlwind romance.  They met in August and Norman proposed to Claudia 3 weeks later and was married on November 6, 1971 in the St. George LDS Temple in St. George, Utah.  Norman and Claudia just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 6th.  Norman enjoyed attending college.  He attended Barrington College in Rhode Island, UNLV in Las Vegas, Nevada where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration/Food Service.  He went back to school when Catherine was little and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and received his teaching certificate.   After he was finished at BYU he was offered a teaching job in Keams Canyon, Arizona.  Norman taught in several areas on the reservation, his last area was Dennehotso.    We decided it was time to move to town and he was offered a job in Farmington.

Norman never met a person that he didn’t like.  He was always good to everyone, always serving others.  He loved Genealogy.  He spent so much of his time researching names, going to cemeteries and libraries all over the country, and contacting people all over the world.  Norman enjoyed being a home teacher and visiting people, and was always concerned with how they were doing and if he could help in any way.

Norman’s funeral will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Knudsen in Farmington.  9:00am Viewing, 10:00am Funeral, and 11:30am burial at Greenlawn Cemetary on Dustin Avenue.
