Michael "Mike" Armstrong

Michael "Mike" Armstrong, 69, of Aztec, NM passed away January 23, 2023. 

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Armstrong and Juanita Tacker Armstrong. Sister Laura Mae Harding, brothers Elbert "Butch" Harding, Robert "Sonny" Armstrong, Leroy Armstrong, Sammy Armstrong, and by his in-laws Pervis and Sue Raley.

Mike was one of the good guys....not just a good man, but a truly decent human being. He was a devoted family man, a trustworthy friend, a dependable employee and so much more. He had a wonderful and crazy sense of humor. If your day needed a little sunshine, you knew where to go for a joke and that big grin. A hug?  He gave the best! Needed help with something? He was there for you. He was serious when seriousness was required, but you also knew to keep your guard up because you never knew what prank he was working on. 

Our world is smaller with his physical absence, but our world is also larger for having known him. We all have memories that will keep him in our hearts.

Mike was a Marine and served in the Vietnam War.

Mike worked as a truck driver for 47 years. He enjoyed fishing, golf, Sniper Fury, and football. He was proud to be part owner of the Greenbay Packers. He loved to spend time with his family, especially with his granddaughter Acacia. He loved his dog and taking her for rides.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Susie Jean Raley Armstrong, children Misty McNeely (John), Robert Armstrong, Noah Jerome Raley, and devoted daughter Reyna Longoria. Granddaughter Acacia Longoria who he lived with and helped raise. His granddaughter Lilliana Woodfill, grandsons Dakota, Christopher, Tythan, and Devyn, great-granddaughters Abigail, Sophia, and Harper, his niece Renee Jackson, and many other relatives and friends.

Mike's military honors will be held at 10:30 am with the memorial service following at 11:00 am on Saturday February 11th, 2023 at Eastside Church of Christ, 2012 N Huntzinger Ave. Farmington, NM. Pastor Nathan Wheeler will be officiating.
