Laverne Jean Jim, 66, of Shiprock, New Mexico passed away on September 19, 2021 in Provo, Utah. Laverne was born on September 19, 1955 in Carson, New Mexico to Stella Jackson and Franklin “Frankie” Pierce. She met her husband, James Jim through her sister, Esther Edison. James and Laverne were married and sealed in the LDS Temple in Provo, Utah on June 3, 1971. Laverne had 6 children, adopted 1 child and had 5 grandchildren. She was a caregiver and helped her family and friends anyway she could. Laverne was also a seamstress and enjoyed sewing; she also dawdled a little in silversmithing, making beautiful jewelry. Laverne loved to travel with her family, especially with her husband and her daughter up until their passing. Even after, she still enjoyed traveling to Utah to visit her kids. Laverne was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Laverne is preceded in death by her loving husband; James Jim, daughter; Dorvinia Jean Jim, parents; Stella Jackson(Yazzie) and Franklin “Frankie” Pierce, brothers; Felix Pierce and Lindy Pierce, sisters; Emma Jean Pierce, Edith Pierce and Esther Edison; grandparents, Suzy Napi, James Pierce Sr., Etcitty Yazzie and Glip Pah. Laverne is survived by her sons; Travis Jim and Terrance Jim, daughters; Victoria Cassidy, Donna Jim, Divida Ayze, DeVonne Jim, brothers; Franklin Pierce, Ferdinand Pierce, Ferguson Pierce and Jason Jackson, sisters; Louella Cambridge, Lorna Pierce, Lucinda Wasnoska, and grandchildren; Nicolle Cassidy, Michael Cassidy, Dylan Cassidy, Jonathan Ayze and James Ayze.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Cope Memorial Chapel of Farmington, 404 West Arrington St., Farmington, New Mexico. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Farmington, New Mexico.
Pallbearers are Jonathon Ayze, Roger Ayze, Corey Jim, Dylan Thomas, Colin Nez and Gage Jim.
