Obituary
Ida Langham Sikes, 81 of Kirtland, NM passed away on 2/9/23. She was born on 12/4/41 in Tularosa, NM to Loela and FN Cornett.
Ida attended Texas Tech, where she met Larry Sikes. She graduated with a nursing degree, and she and Larry wed on 12/13/63 in Lubbock, TX. Soon after they moved to Farmington, NM where Ida worked as a nurse in Farmington and Shiprock until they had their sons Michael and Christopher. She remained a homemaker until they moved to El Paso, TX in the 1980’s.
Ida moved back to Farmington in 1998 after the passing of her husband Larry. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, NM and enjoyed reading scripture and taking care of her animals.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband Larry Sikes, her mother Leola Cornett and father FN Cornett.
She is survived by her sons Michael (Cindy) of Bloomfield, NM, Christopher (Marie) of El Paso, TX, her brother Frank Nolan (Deb) of Ellijay, GA.
Ida had 6 grandchildren; Aoife, Donovan, Kelcie, Chris, TaRee, Sarah and 3 great-grandchildren; Jasper, Zoey, Boston, and niece Cathy.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, NM on 2/17/23 at 10:00 am, burial to follow at Bloomfield Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Sikes, Christopher Sikes, Frank Cornett, Donovan Sikes, Chris Matlock, and Cindy Sikes.
