Sergio Castillo

Sergio Castillo of Flora Vista, New Mexico went on to his heavenly home on September 14th, 2022 at the age of 66, surrounded by loved ones. Sergio was born on January 1st, 1956 to Felix and LeAndra Zapata in Janos, Chihuahua, Mexico,. Sergio came tot he U.S at the age of 14 and fulfilled a lifelong dream when we became a citizen of the United States in 2018. He met his spouse, Maxine Pacheco, the love of his life, in 1980 at the Safeway in Aztec! They were together for forty two and a half years and raised two beautiful sons, Desmond and David. They had the type of idyllic marriage that most only dream of.

Sergio loved the Lord and his family immensely. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He had a long, wonderful life and enjoyed working hard providing for his family. His passions included working in his yard, which was a source of pride and accomplishment and his "baby," which was a sparkling blue Ford F150. He also loved getting dressed up, including perfectly styled hair and fresh cologne, to go out to eat, to the casino, to his children's or grandchildren's games or activities, or just for simply going to town. Sergio was known to joke around and often filled the room with laughter and happiness. His joyful countenance and sparkling green eyes were a source of comfort to his entire family and many friends.

Sergio was preceded in death by Felix Castillo, LeAndra Zapata, Jose Castillo, Emma Quintana, Armando Zapata, Argelia Zapata, Martin Zapata, and Jose "Papo" Pacheco.

Sergio is survived by his wife, Maxine Castillo, sons Desmond Castillo (Lisa), David Castillo (Sarah), brother Osbaldo Zapata, and grandchildren, Cerrin Castillo, Makayla Castillo, Dezamya Castillo, David "Junior" Castillo II, and Ace Castillo.

Services will be held at Holy Trinity Church of Flora Vista on September 24, 2022 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Farmington, NM. Condolences can be sent to Cope Memorial in Aztec, NM, in lieu of flowers and donations.
