Robert King Stiles, Sr.

December 3, 1927 – August 27, 2022

Robert (Bob) K Stiles, Sr, whose lineage can be traced to Sir Humphrey Stiles, 1516, Sheriff of Kent and Esquire to King Henry VIII.  Bob was a longtime resident of Farmington, passed away Saturday August 27th 2022.   He was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on December 3, 1927.

Bob attended and graduated from Cheyenne High School and attended the University of Wyoming.

He was in the Signal Corps where he was tasked with administrative control and repair of frontline communications while serving as Sergeant First Class in the US Army. In 1946 he met his wife, Margaret, in Sacramento, California.  They were married in 1947 and in 1950 they moved to Artesia, New Mexico. They were blessed with 2 children, Robin and Christy in 1953 and 1955.

The family moved to Farmington, New Mexico in 1957 where they lived until 1999 at which time they moved to Albuquerque to be closer to their children.

While in Farmington Bob worked for KENN radio and the Farmington Daily Times newspaper until retirement.

Bob and Margaret were members of First Methodist Church of Farmington for 42 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his mother and father, Edna and Lloyd Stiles and nephew Kyle Amen.

He is survived by his sister Nadine and her husband Jim Amen of Cheyenne, Wyoming,  son Robin Stiles and wife Barbara and daughter Christy Britton; grandchildren  Josh Stiles, Stephanie Bagley, Army SSGT Zachary Beem, 75th Ranger Regiment Special Troops, Elgie Harris, Morgan Martel; great grandchildren, Haley, Kameron, Matthew, Isiah, Aaleyiah; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Bob will be held Thursday September 1st from 3pm to 5pm at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday September 2nd at 1 pm at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Chapel.  Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Memory Gardens.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation to a favorite charity be made in his name.
