Mona (Jones) Jackson

August 6, 1967 — April 19, 2023

Bloomfield, New Mexico

On April 19th 2023 Mona Jackson age 55 of Bloomfield NM, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a long fought and courageous battle with cancer. She showed remarkable grace even in her final days. Mona was born in August of 1967 in Albuquerque to Michael Shaver and Tonnie Fennimore. She was then adopted by Bobby & Jean Jones of Los Lunas. By the age of 7, the Jones family tragically lost Mona’s parents and the children were raised by MT and Laverne Jones. Her early years were spent with her brothers and cousins, growing up in the outdoors; hiking fishing, camping, and spending long summer days at the lake, where she also met the love of her life, Steve. Mona married Steve in her late teens and shortly thereafter became a mom, which was her favorite and most trying job. Throughout her life she spent time as a homemaker, professional, and substitute teacher. Much of her life was dedicated to helping others through the counseling programs at the jail, crisis pregnancy center, and the members of her beloved church. She never met a stranger and couldn’t pass someone by who needed help. Mona was vibrant, full of life, and always had a passion for music and singing. She was passionate about all she did and had a genuine love of all people in her life. Her heart’s desire was to profess her faith and lead people to the Lord. Mona is survived by her loving husband Steve, her parents Mike (Trish) & Tonnie (Howie); her sisters Angela (Scott), Kathy (Mat), & Erin (Troy) brothers Clay, Jason & Sam (Margaret); Her children Karen, David, & Michelle & grandsons Cruz & Zay. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, & neighbors. Mona is preceded in death by her brother Travis, adopted parents, & adopted grandparents. Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Bloomfield New Mexico, April 25th at 10 AM; burial will follow at the Aztec New Mexico Cemetery.
