Juan "John" Trujillo

Juan “John” Trujillo passed away on January 13, 2023, at the age of 88 with his family by his side. He was born on March 28, 1934, in El Rito, NM, the oldest of seven siblings. He proudly enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 and was a veteran of the Korean War. After an honorable discharge in 1955, John attended seminary college in Boston, Massachusetts, and in Conception, Missouri; however, his path in life ultimately led him away from the priesthood and to a degree in education from the College of Santa Fe in 1961. Throughout his tenure as both an elementary and high school teacher, John’s passion for education had a positive impact on many lives.

John was married to his true love Donna Trujillo for 53 years. They raised two children--Jerome and Hope--in Espanola and Farmington, NM, and he enjoyed spoiling his four grandchildren: Alex, Jacob, Lorelei, and Elise.

John was a kind spirit, but his gentle exterior couldn’t always hide his fiery energy for history, politics, and his favorite hobby, competitive tennis.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Farmington Church located at 8121 East Main Street, Farmington, NM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in John’s name to New Life Farmington Church or your favorite charity.
