Doyle Richmond Hopper Jr.

August 31, 1946 — December 9, 2022

Farmington, New Mexico

Doyle “Bo” Richmond Hopper Jr. passed to be with his Lord and Savior Christ Jesus at his home in the arms of his most cherished wife of 55 years on December 9th, 2022. He is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son-in-law, son, and brother. Bo is preceded in passing by his parents Doyle Richmond Hopper and Edra Mae Hopper, sister Norma Jean Vargas, father-in-law Lars Antone Hansen, mother-in-law Myrna Grace Hansen, and sister-in-law Theresa Ann Hansen. Bo is survived by his wife Myrna Lari Hopper, his daughter Mary Grace Hopper, son Carl Richmond Hopper, grandson Luke Richmond Bodine, granddaughter Nicole Marie Bodine, great-grandson Luthor Richmond Bodine, niece Antone Hansen, and brother-in-law Tone Hansen.

Bo was born on August 31st, 1946 in Baird, Texas. The family moved from Clyde, Texas to Aztec, New Mexico during Bo’s childhood. He attended and graduated from Aztec High School in 1964. He then attended and graduated from the Denver Automotive School in 1966. Bo met Myrna Lari Hansen in 1966, and then married the love of his life on February 18th, 1967. He began working for El Paso Natural Gas Company in Farmington, New Mexico as a machinist in 1967. He continued working for El Paso as the manager of the Farmington machine shop until 2004, well over 37 years of dedicated and faithful service.

Bo is loved and respected by all that have the pleasure of knowing him. He was always willing to help anyone that asked and loved putting his machinist, mechanic, carpenter, plumber, or electrician skills to work to solve problems and help in any way possible. His favorite saying when tackling any task large or small was “If you are going to do something, always do it joyfully.” Heartfelt advice from a very wise and gentle man. Bo always enjoyed working in his shop at home. He often had the correct tool or would have a supply of what is needed to complete a job and solve a pressing problem. His knowledge always saved the family or friends from spending unnecessary time and money.

Bo loves his family and his family loves him very much. For over 55 years, Bo always made morning coffee and brought it to his wife in bed and had iced-tea ready for her when she got home from work because he went to work early in the morning and got home at 3:30 in the afternoon. He loved giving his grandchildren rides on his tractor and picking them up from school. Bo loved long conversations with his daughter on the phone and always looked forward to her visits. He so enjoyed watching football, hunting, and going on long jeep adventures with his son.

The family is comforted by the faith and knowledge that Bo’s body only sleeps and will be raised by Christ Jesus in the soon coming Rapture. He is in the arms of our Lord Jesus and is surrounded by those who love him very much. Whether we meet him in the air with our Lord Jesus, or meet him in Paradise, we will meet him again soon. All Praise and Glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! A service will be held for Bo in the later in the spring.
