Donald Carol Stanley

Donald Carol Stanley, 80, entered the kingdom of heaven on Monday, June 14, 2021. He was born on September 18, 1940 to Marvin Cloyse Stanley and Charlean (Alexander) Stanley.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; maternal and paternal grandparents; his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy Jean Stanley, son Kevin Mark Stanley, grandsons Bradley Mark Tillerson and Jessie Clavier, sister Charlotte (Stanley) Baugh and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Clavier and Bonita Tillerson (husband Tim); son, Donald C Stanley, Jr.; brother, Charles Stanley and wife Barbara, of Vivian LA; sisters, Patsy Lowery and Glenda Henley of Stonewall LA and Gwen Dykes of Jefferson City, MO; grandchildren, Brittany Burson (husband Chad), Christy Rodney, David Clavier Jr., and Kevin Clavier; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
He met the love of his life, his wife Peggy, at the State Fair in Shreveport LA in 1956. They dated for a year and half before he joined the Navy in 1957. He served on the USS Carpenter and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. In 1958, while he was home on leave, he and Peggy decided they were going to get married. They eloped (their mothers were there too!) and were married in a little church in Marshall TX. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before Peggy went to Heaven in 2014.
Donald was inducted into the Masonic Lodge in 1971 and was a Master Mason of The Grand Lodge of the State of Louisiana, Lodge No. 267 for over 50 years. He loved his family, served his Country with honor and is now rejoicing with the Lord and his heavenly family.
Special thank you to his neighbors, Randy and Sherry Paxson; to Cammy Vakhariv, caregiver and personal handyman; the doctors and nurses at San Juan Regional Medical Center, family, friends and co-workers. You all were a part of this journey with Dad and we are forever grateful for your kindness and compassion.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held with a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 9:00 am. with full military honors. There will be a reception following the service at 213 Sunset Place, Farmington 87401.
