Cheryl D. Whitney

June 28, 1954 — November 24, 2021

Cheryl Cheri Diane (Kennon) Whitney, was born June 28, 1954 and
passed into Heaven on November 24, 2021. She was born to Ray and
Marilyn Kennon in Taos, New Mexico where she enjoyed a happy
childhood with her two sisters, Ray Lynn and Cindy and brother Scott.
She learned to ski on Taos Mountain and graduated from Taos High
School, an excellent student and quite the actress in lead roles in high school drama productions.
In 1976 she moved to Farmington with her former husband and had two rambunctious little boys, Matthew and Joshua. She worked and lived her life here. She enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, a love of sunshine and deep summer tans. Cheri was active in school activities helping the boys' teachers with bake sales, field trips and whatever was needed.
She married Chris Whitney in 1997. They were married 25 years until her passing. She loved her husband, her family, her church, her friends, and all life could afford her. She was very creative, making beautiful bears, which she sold, flower arrangements for the church for holidays and special events, and she also dabbled in oil painting and jewelry making.
She and Chris loved traveling especially to Florida where they had many great adventures. They cruised, went snorkeling, gathered seashells, and enjoyed beautiful sunsets.
Cheri is survived by her loving husband Chris, her sons, Matthew Jones (Deborah), and granddaughter Madeline; Joshua Jones (Angie) and grandchildren Eric and Leah; Chris' son Aaron and grandchildren McKenna and Wyatt; sisters, Rae Lynn Shropshire (Kirk) and Cindy Motherway (Kenny deceased), nephew Brad Motherway (Jessica), and nieces Amber Shropshire and Sarah Shropshire (Gavin) as well as many dear friends whom she would have loved to say good-bye.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on December 17, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 211 W 20th St., Farmington.
