Bonnie Crawford

April 22, 1936 — November 7, 2021

Bonnie Jean (June) Crawford passed away on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, in Farmington, NM. She is now with her Heavenly Lord and Savior as well as her beloved husband, Carroll, and daughter, Diana. She was born on Apr. 22, 1936, in Wink, TX to Charles Edward and Evelyn Brewer French. She was raised in West Plains, Missouri. She moved to Farmington and graduated from Farmington High School in 1953.   She married the love of her life, Carroll E. Crawford, on Sept. 5, 1953. To this union of 62-plus years were born two daughters, Diana Lynn and Rebecca Sue; and a son, Scott Carroll.

She attained an Associate in Arts degree from New Mexico State University on September 5, 1969.  She then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Lewis College and graduated with the honor of Summa Cum Laude, the highest academic distinction, on April 10, 1971. She dedicated her life to the education of students and taught high school for twenty-five years both in Bloomfield, NM and El Paso, TX.  She was a PAN-AM sponsor 1976-1977.  Bonnie was honored as a Teacher of the Year Finalist in 1981 in the Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso.  She was National Honor Society Teacher of the Month in May 1989, December 1992, and September 1993.  During her tenure, she was a sponsor for the drill team, student council, and senior class at different times throughout her career. She retired from teaching in El Paso in December 1994 and moved back to Farmington, NM with Carroll.  She was an Honorary Chapter Farmer of FFA.  She then homeschooled a grandson, loved gardening and her pets, and enjoyed being outside thoroughly!  She used her God given talents to serve Him including her beautiful voice by singing in church trios and playing the piano in church services.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Evelyn Brewer; husband, Carroll E. Crawford; and daughter, Diana Crawford Keith.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" (Lauren) Puepke and son, Scott both of Farmington; sister, Anna Jean Shults of Palestine, TX; sister, Catherine Graminski of Mojave Valley, NV; brother-in-law, Terry Crawford of Mechanicsville, VA; sisters-in-law, Ibbie Crawford of Austin, TX and Jane Crawford (Terry) of VA; grandchildren; Kirsten (Ricky) Lofton of El Paso, TX, Ryan Hatch of Albuquerque, NM,  Melissa (Micheal) Munoz of San Antonio, TX, Amanda Culbertson (Jered) of Farmington, Shae Lynn (Allen) Young of Amarillo, TX, Marshall Crawford of Farmington, Taylor (Kyler) Kirkland of Amarillo, TX, and Katelyn (Cimaron) Hernandez of Amarillo, TX; great-grandchildren, Noah Lofton, Elena and Emmanuel Munoz, Nathanael Rojo, Makennah Culbertson, Emma Young, Malakai Kirkland, Charles Kirkland, Maverick Kirkland,  Brycen Hernandez, Brevin Hernandez, Bradley Hernandez, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. with Ken Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow.  Pallbearers are Marshall Crawford, Allen Young, Kyler Kirkland, Cimaron Hernandez, Lauren Puepke, and Jered Culbertson. Honorary Pallbearers are Scott Crawford, Ryan Hatch, Noah Lofton, Christopher Hatch, and Ricky Lofton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the DementiaSociety.org.
