Beverly Ann Higgins, 85

Bloomfield NM

12/25/1935-05/22/2021

Beverly was born in El Reno, Oklahoma on Christmas Day 1935 to Vernon and Louise Leach. Terry Higgins was her high school sweetheart and they married shortly after graduating. In 1956 they moved to Ignacio, Colorado for a short time before settling in Kirtland, New Mexico to raise their family. Beverly was a mainstay in the community. As a substitute teacher, den mother, and bus driver, Beverly was mother to hundreds of kids in her lifetime. She also helped Terry with coaching duties over multiple sports that the boys participated in throughout their childhood. In 1975, Terry and Beverly purchased Bloomfield Pawn Shop; together they built a thriving business and established a presence in the community. They weathered the ups and downs of owning a small business and the Pawn Shop remains the oldest business in Bloomfield. On any given day one could find Beverly chasing her rambunctious kids (and later grandkids) or keeping the books for the Pawn Shop. Outside of work and family, Beverly loved the outdoors; fishing camping, going to the mountains, and watching her kids’ dirt track racing were among her favorite ways to spend her free time.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Louise Leach; and brothers, Jerry and Juddy Leach.

She is survived by her husband, Terry K Higgins; sons, Garye (Kris) Higgins, Bret (Bonnie) Higgins, and Rex (Becky) Higgins; grandchildren, Garrett (Kami) Higgins, Justin (Savannah) Higgins, Kasey (Robert) McNamara, Matthew (Caley) Higgins, Michael (Chris) Higgins, Candace (James) Franklin, Christopher (Tasha) Higgins, and Maygen (Steffan) Carey; great-grandchildren, Rivver (Bana) Higgins, Brianna, Ella, Noah, Claudia, Jase, Drayton, Taytem, Esyn Higgins, Vivien and Auden McNamama, Jice and Avin Franklin, and Witten and Carter Carey; great-great-grandchild, Theo Higgins.

The family would like to thank Sean Rogers MD, Ernesto Blanco MD, Victor Rivera MD, John Hawkins, and Kym at San Juan Regional Medical Center; we will not forget the love and care Beverly received.

Terry spent 65 wonderful years with the love of his life. Beverly’s memory will be cherished by all. Heaven gained an angel.

As per Beverly’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial for family at a later date.
