Barbara Papp

June 4, 1933 — November 26, 2022

Farmington, New Mexico

Barbara Papp passed away on November 26, 2022, after a long struggle with dementia. She was 89.

Barbara Faltus was the first born of Jim and Eva Faltus, entering this world on June 4, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois.  She was raised in Lansing, Illinois and attended business college after graduation from Thornton Fractional H.S.  Soon after she began working, she met her loving husband Richard E. Papp and they were married on October 8, 1955, in Lansing, Illinois.  In 1965, they relocated to Grosse Ile, Michigan.  While raising their two sons, Barbara worked in the accounting departments of two manufacturing companies.

After retiring early, Richard and Barbara spent the better part of each year, for 25+ years, RV’ing around the United States, Canada and Mexico wearing out at least three motorhomes.  The winter months were initially spent in Florida and eventually in Arizona, to escape what Barbara referred to as the “dark, dreary, damp and depressing Michigan winters”.

After retiring their last motorhome, they moved to Farmington, NM to be closer to family.

Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Barbara was friendly to everyone, never said a harsh word about anyone and loved her dogs.  She was a gifted musician, gardener, jewelry designer and artist, who loved to read, travel, play the piano and sing.

Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her son’s strong morals and values. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Richard (2015) and parents Jim and Eva Faltus.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Richard A. Papp (Grosse Ile, MI) and Glen O. Papp (Farmington, NM), granddaughters, Jacqueline Papp and Noelle Taylor. She is also survived by her sisters, Gail (Dan) Hamilton (Aurora, OH) and Linda (Reno) Righetti (Stockton, CA).

A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Farmington, NM on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Immediately following the funeral mass burial will take place at Memory Gardens, followed by a luncheon.
